Receipt of PLUS (Parent) Loan Funds
Quick Links:
Borrowers who use one of the preferred lenders can have their PLUS Loan funds delivered to RU by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). In most cases the loan will be disbursed in two installments. Any money owed to the university will be automatically deducted from the loan amount and with the borrower's permission, any surplus can be deposited into a personal checking or savings account designated by the student for all RU Direct deposits.

Borrowers using lenders who do not participate in Electronic Funds Transfer will have their loan proceeds delivered by paper check, co-payable to RU and the borrower. If the student owes money to RU on his/her student account, the check will be sent to the parent for endorsement and then returned to RU to be applied to the student's account. After all charges are paid a refund (if applicable) will be sent to the borrower, unless the parent has made other arrangements for a refund to go to the student.
